Ryder Duncan

Ryder Duncan was born and raised on a small farm in rural Kentucky where he spent time riding and driving various types of horses and mules. During several years of his childhood, he spent summers with a family member who managed a thoroughbred breeding farm near Ocala, Florida. As a teenager, he went on to work on this farm, assisting primarily with horse care and with breeding, delivering, and raising foals. He has also spent significant time working with traumatized horses, starting young horses, and rehabilitation cases, both with his personal horses and while working as a trainer for several families in his community as a teen and young adult.

During college, he was forced to part with his heart horse and spent ten years away from the industry. During this time, he spent time as a premedical student before earning a bachelor's degree in English and Anthropology. After spending so much time away from the creatures that inspire him the most, he chose to return to the industry and joined the team at Summit Equine in February of 2025.

He especially loves working with foals and young horses and helping horses with abuse or trauma histories learn to trust again. Outside of work, he spends most of his time with his husband, Kai, assisting in horse rescue, and spending time with their two mares, Stella and Luna.
